Era da un po’ che non avevamo nuove dal giovane Trevor Powers in arte Youth Lagoon.
Dopo l’uscita del suo secondo lavoro discografico, Wondroud Bughouse (che trovate recensito qui), Trevor ci aveva lasciati con il suo video più recente, quello di Mute.
Oggi invece è giunto sulla terra, direttamente dallo spazio (è il caso di dirlo), un nuovo brano che Powers ha realizzato per la compilation The Space Project, che contiene solo tracce che usano suoni campionati, appunto, nello spazio – si fa per dire.
Non che il nostro Youth Lagoon si sia fatto un viaggeto in orbita, infatti. Come spiega lui stesso via social, nell’universo che ci circonda non ci sono poi così tanti suoni:
FYI: although there’s no real sound in the vacuum of space, it’s possible to translate the electromagnetic radiation fluctuations and charged particles of these celestial bodies into conventional sound. So now that you’re no better of a person at all for knowing that, a collection of artists have come together to take audio recordings of planets that were gathered by the Voyager 1 & 2 space probes and manipulate these frequencies in music. This is my piece.
