È da un bel po’ che è stato annunciato Van Weezer, nuovo album della band americana che – almeno a giudicare da titolo, dichiarazioni e primi singoli pubblicati – sarà un disco pieno di chitarre.
Doveva essere pubblicato lo scorso 15 maggio, ma l’emergenza covid ha fatto slittare tutto, quindi finirà nelle nostre orecchie tra qualche mese, più precisamente il 7 maggio. Attesa troppo lunga? Non preoccupatevi, perché il prossimo 29 gennaio i Weezer pubblicheranno un altro album: OK Human.
Dovrebbe trattarsi di un album complementare al testosterone di Van Weezer, dato che già a inizio 2019 Rivers Cuomo ne parlava così:
Van Weezer is in mortal combat with Okay Human, a record that’s mostly done. That one’s totally different. It’s inspired by an album from 1970 called Nilsson Sings Newman. It’s all piano-based, but it has a ton of orchestration. We just did the strings at Abbey Road. It’s just gorgeous melodies and extremely eccentric lyrics.
Insomma, incrociamo le dita e speriamo siano entrambi ben diversi dalla recente merda pubblicata dalla band. Il primo singolo, intitolato All My Favorite Songs, arriverà giovedì. Probabilmente suonerà parecchio diverso da questo:
