Thom Yorke la scorsa notte ha preso parte al programma radiofonico di Benji B a Radio BBC 1, nel corso della trasmissione, intervistato dal conduttore britannico, ha accennato ad una collaborazione con Burial e Four Tet.

I tre nel 2011 hanno collaborato alla realizzazione di Ego / Mirror, EP di due tracce che non ha avuto eredi, ma Yorke questa notte ha detto:

“I hoping to do it again soon. I did another thing, but the vocal was too dark, according to Kieran. For me, that’s ‘Really? Too dark, even for me? OK.’”

Durante le tre ore in studio sono stati diverse le dichiarazioni interessanti rilasciate dal frontman dei Radiohead, curiosa vicenda è quella che riguarda le “folli” strategie di pubblicazione adottate in passato. Sulla questione è stato molto chiaro, dichiarando che grazie alla sua personale esperienza ha avuto modo di  capire affondo  i metodi di release non convenzionali e di essere stanco di farne uso perché sta diventando troppo vecchio.

In Rainbows dei Radiohead  venne rilasciato in formato fisico e digitale e per quest’ultima versione  fu data la possibilità di acquistare il download senza stabilire un prezzo fisso, secondo la strategia commerciale del  “pay what you want”. Altra pubblicazione insolita è stata quella di Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes, secondo disco solista di Yorke che non è stato preannunciato ed è stato distribuito in formato digitale attraverso BitTorrent per sei dollari, con un brano in download gratuito (A Brain In a Bottle).

Quando a Yorke è stato chiesto della singolare strategia adottata per Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes ha risposto:

“Ugh, yeah, again… Enough of that now. I’ve entirely had enough of that… Just put it out, man. No more fuss, just put it out. I’m getting too old for that bit. It takes away from things a bit, sometimes frustrating. The energy of trying to figure out how to do it differently and circumvent the monsters and you’re like… whatever.”

Al Nos Alive 2016 è sembrato essere il Thom Yorke di sempre.
