Lo spettacolo teatrale ideato da David Byrne, American Utopia, diventa un film.
Come riportato da Deadline è stato siglato un accordo per l’adattamento cinematografico dell’opera, la cui regia è stata affidata a Spike Lee. Il regista ne sarà anche produttore esecutivo insieme allo stesso ex Talking Heads.
Queste le parole di David Byrne dopo la firma del contratto:
Pinch me. This couldn’t have worked out better for this project. Spike Lee directing and Participant producing—two socially engaged teams, well, three if you count us in the band, coming together in what I feel will be something moving, important, and unlike anything anyone has seen before.
Il film dovrebbe arrivare entro la fine del 2020, quando nelle sale ci sarà anche il nuovo film di Spike Lee, Da 5 Bloods.
