Nel suo ultimo concerto del 24 settembre, andato in scena al King’s Theatre di New York, il vecchio Moz ha concluso l’encore con una cover di Judy is a Punk dei Ramones.
Un po’ a sorpresa, anche perché Morrissey non è mai stato il più grande fan della band newyorkese, più volte punzecchiata a causa dello scarso talento con frasi del tipo:
“The Ramones are the latest bumptious band of degenerate no-talents whose most notable achievement to date is their ability to advance beyond the boundaries of New York City, and purely on the strength of a spate of convincing literature projecting the Ramones as God’s gift to rock music.”
Più di recente, invece, ha fatto pubblicamente ammenda e nel 2014, durante il Record Store Day, ha curato un loro best of.
