La BBC Radio 1 è un pezzo avanti a tutti: per dieci ore oggi, a partire dalle 6 del pomeriggio sino alle 4 del mattino, dedicherà l’intera programmazione all’universo indie made in UK, includendo in rotazione artisti come Arctic Monkeys, Jamie XX, Wolf Alice e tutte le punte di diamante delle labels indipendenti brit.
I brani saranno intervallati da interviste alle band ed agli addetti ai lavori, i quali racconteranno la vera essenza dell’indie. Il direttore del canale Chris Price ha dichiarato a tal proposito alla stampa:
“The UK’s independent label community is one of the most vibrant in the world. We want to celebrate the part it plays in making Britain one of the most creative and respected music hubs on the planet.”
Lo speaker Huw Stephens condurrà un focus di un’ora sulle più influenti etichette discografiche diy, del cui contributo nell’evoluzione della storia della musica ha speso parole di lode:
“They release incredible music, take risks on artists and nurture and support some artists who might not be given that support early on. Their success stories are huge, and we’re super excited to highlight our constant support of the great work the independent labels do.”
