I fortunati che hanno avuto modo di superare la door selection del Beghain di Berlino avranno avuto modo di ammirare anche il gigantesco murales che si staglia all’ingresso.
L’opera, battezza Rituals of Disappearance, è stata inaugurata nel 2004 in occasione dell’apertura ufficiale del Tempio mondiale della techno. Il disegno in bianco e nero raffigura un paesaggio immaginario governato da acque in tempesta e altre poderose forze della natura.
Il murales è maestoso, pensate che è alto quasi 5 metri, largo ben 25 e composto da 171 pannelli di alluminio tra loro distanziati.
L’autore dell’opera, Piotr Nathan, l’ha così spiegata:
As with a puzzle, the single panels form a panoramic scenario of four natural phenomena: a volcanic eruption, a desert storm with sand tornadoes, a sea storm with water tornadoes and the rising of northern lights above a nocturnally resting village. The sequence of motives creates the work’s narrative.
A causa dei lavori di ristrutturazione che stanno interessando il club, l’opera è stata rimossa e il suo autore ha voluto che i pannelli venissero messi in vendita singolarmente, in modo che nessuno possa entrare in possesso dell’intero murales.
Da oggi, fino al 17 aprile, i pannelli potranno essere acquistati per 500€ sul sito ideato da Nathan e creato dal Berghain.
Piotr Nathan ha così motivato la sua scelta con un comunicato stampa:
The work Rituals of Disappearance is only to be fully understood in the context of the music at the club, the people who celebrate there, and the unique aura of the space. To me it is therefore conclusive to dissolve the work and distribute it primarily among the people who have a connection with the Berghain. The work as a whole is constructed of single plates and will be dissolved and sold in fragments.
