Dopo il successo di Good Kid ,M.A.A.D. City e To Pimp A Butterfly, è lecita ora la domanda “Quanto manca al nuovo album di Kendrick Lamar?“.
Il rapper statunitense ha dichiarato che il nuovo disco è ancora in fase preparatoria ed è ancora troppo presto per capire come suonerà, aggiungendo che To Pimp A Butterfly sarà sempre un caposaldo della sua carriera e citando anche l’influenza di Eminem sulla sua musica:
“I have ideas, and I have a certain approach. But I want to see how it manifests. I want to put all the paint on the wall and see how that goes […] I got my clarity just studying Eminem when I was a kid. How I got in the studio was all just curiosity. The day I heard ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’, I was just ‘How does that work? What’s he doing? How is he putting words together like that? What’s the track under that, an ad-lib?’ His timing is impeccable. When he wants to fall off the beat, he’s impeccable. These are things that, through experience and time, I had to ” .
