Ecco una cosa dei Sigur Rós che non avreste mai immaginato.
Il bassista ed il batterista della band, Georg Holm e Orri Dyrason, hanno finanziato la produzione di un film natalizio interpretato da cani parlanti, The Three Dogateers.
L’idea sarebbe loro sembrata geniale sin dal primo istante in cui gli è stata proposta, di ritorno da Hong Kong a Los Angeles:
“We had just arrived to Los Angeles from Hong Kong, to record a performance for Jay Leno. I was really tired after a long trip, but I knew my childhood friend Sindri was in town, so I called him up to see if something fun was going on. We got really excited when we found a Christmas movie that had talking dogs in it —‘The Three Dogateers Save Christmas’! We immediately started planning the production.”
Non lo hanno fatto per ambizione o merito artistico, sia chiaro. Lo hanno fatto per business, per il cash che solo una pellicola natalizia con protagonisti animali parlanti può offrire:
“It was an investment. We did it to make some money. It’s not as if we place any kind of meaning or importance in that film. We didn’t foster any artistic ambitions or anything like that.”
Probabilmente ci sarà anche un sequel, Jurassic Bark. Siate pronti al peggio.
