Non si parla d’altro: i The Libertines sono tornati, e stanno ribaltando tutto.
A dispetto dei detrattori, che si aspettavano convinti un Pete Doherty ingrassato e strafatto, ormai sul ciglio dell’impotenza musicale, ed una band che nulla più poteva offrire, là dove il suo frontman simbolo (non ce ne voglia Carl Barat, che pure lui ha portato tanto di bello nelle nostre vite) salta tutti i concerti per devozione ai vizi capitali, Pete & soci, undici anni dopo la pubblicazione dell’omonimo album di debutto, stanno seminando larghi consensi.
Ovazioni si sono innalzate durante i loro ultimi live, tanto al Best Kept Secret Festival, quanto al Glastonbury qualche giorno fa: il gruppo ha presentato in anteprima alcuni inediti del nuovo disco -vedi Gunga Din, che prima si chiamava, però, Gunga Gin- in uscita il 4 Settembre per Harvest.
Non meno epocale il titolo dell’album in arrivo: Anthems For Doomed Youth. La Deluxe Edition conterrà anche quattro bonus tracks registrate presso i Karma Studios lo scorso Maggio, nel cuore della Thailandia.
Tramite il proprio account Facebook, la band ha amorevolmente dichiarato:
“Dearest one and all, the day has finally arrived, to announce the unveiling of the new Libertines record – ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’. We do so with the utmost pride and jubilation. She (the record) will be available on the 4th of September.”
