Presto potremo godere del ritorno sulle scene dei The Killers con il loro nuovo album. La band californiana ha rotto gli indugi in merito al sound del nuovo disco, per viva voce del frontman Brandon Flowers.
In un’intervista rilasciata a Q Magazine, il cantante ha messo le carte in tavola rispetto all’album cui stanno lavorando dallo scorso settembre, e del quale il processo di lavorazione li ha portati a toccare varie città tra cui Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles e Joshua Tree, sotto le guide del produttore degli U2, Jacknife Lee.
Parlando del disco, Brandon ha raccontato che ci saranno momenti più duri rispetto alle canzoni del passato:
There are moments that feel heavier than anything we’ve ever done, not that we’re the heaviest band in the world, but they have a finesse because of our experience. […] There’s also really beautiful things. Lyrically, it’s really close to home.
Entrando nel merito del disco, Brandon ha rivelato alcuni dei titoli e dei temi delle canzoni:
There’s one called ‘Rut’ and we were all kind of excited about what was happening with that. Another is called ‘Run For Cover’ and that comes from ‘Day & Age’. so it’s eight-years-old. It started with Stuart Price and it still sort of has his stamp on it – but we’re funnelling it back through the band eight years later with a different producer.
A 10 anni di distanza da Sam’s Town nel 2016 i Killers hanno celebrato questo evento con uno speciale concerto, ed è stato quindi chiesto al frontman dei Killers se tornare a lavorare sui vecchi pezzi abbia in qualche modo influenzato il nuovo lavoro. Ha così risposto:
I think in that aspect it was integral. It made me remember how cohesive everything was, there’s something really together about it. we put out ‘Direct Hits’ after ‘Battle Born’ and I feel like that was the end of something, so now it’s about re-imagining The Killers as men now. People with life experiences and blood on their hands, seeing what we look like with callouses and lines around our eyes.
E, anche se riguardo ai testi pensa di non aver fatto un grande lavoro in passato, noi sappiamo che non è così e non vediamo l’ora di poter sentirli direttamente da quello che sarà uno degli album più attesi di quest’anno.
