Damon Albarn è un uomo di parola. Lo scorso anno, ai microfoni di Zane Lowe su Beats 1, il poliedrico e instancabile artista londinese svelava che The Good, The Bad & The Queen erano al lavoro sul nuovo album, ma senza indicare la data di release:
I’ve been recording the Good, The Bad & The Queen album I’ve been working with Tony Visconti.
He’s responsible for some of my favourite records, so that’s been really enlightening and inspirational. It’s an ode to the North of England, bizarrely, it’s sort of set in Blackpool, between Starr Gate and (uno storico pub) Uncle Tom’s Cabin, if you want to be geographically precise.

L’attesa è durata più di 10 anni, ma è finita. Il secondo album di in studio di The Good, The Bad & The Queen, supergruppo formato da Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon, Simon Tong e Tony Allen, si intitolerà Merrie Land e verrà rilasciato il prossimo 16 novembre.
Come vi anticipammo, Merrie Land è stato prodotto da Tony Visconti – storico produttore e collaboratore di David Bowie, ma che ha lavorato, tra i tanti, anche con Peter Gabriel, The Seahorses e Joss Stone.
Il sophomore della band inglese è stato definito da Albarn “an ode to the North of England”.
