Colm Ó’Cíosóig, il batterista dei My Bloody Valentine, ha scritto una lettera all’Irish Times per lamentarsi del fatto che i concerti non siano più chiassosi come un tempo.
Nella lettera il musicista della band icona dello shoegaze accusa chi gestisce i volumi al giorno d’oggi di puntare al ribasso, togliendo l’anima allo spettacolo che, a suo parere, dovrebbe avere un volume più alto:
I have been to two very expensive gigs there recently and have experienced annoyingly cheap and thin-sounding representations of what should have been all-engulfing wonderful realities.
Riferendosi ad alcune location in Irlanda come la 3Arena di Dublino ha poi voluto aggiungere senza mezzi termini come questa nuova cultura sia castrante:
The 3Arena is an example of this new reality that is castrating culture and charging a fortune for it. The decibel- limiting on the PA system is very sad indeed. When upfront at a gig you are supposed to feel the drums and bass rattle your bones, and the music should fill your head to the extant that it can bring you to an ecstatic place.
Colm sostiene quindi che l’anima dei concerti sia anche nel volume e, considerando il lavoro che ha fatto con i My Bloody Valentine, sentiamo di fidarci della sua visione: #MakeVolumeHighAgain.
