La webstar più divertente della musica contemporanea – stiamo parlando di Father John Misty – è attualmente al lavoro sul nuovo album, successore del bellissimo I Love You, Honeybear del 2015.
Siccome Josh Tillman non ama la banalità, ha dichiarato che a differenza del predecessore questo lavoro avrà un “reggae-influenced sound“, e che rischiamo di trovarci dentro brani piuttosto lunghi ed elaborati, con uno in particolare – Leaving LA – dalla durata di circa 15 minuti.
Il produttore sarà ancora una volta Jonathan Wilson, nonostante qualche tentativo di approccio da parte di grossi nomi ed etichette ci sia stato:
I met with some big producers and major labels and I realised that it really comes down to pragmatism versus your ideals. And those decisions are only made well if they’re based on ideals.
Su uno degli ultimi brani, Real Love Baby, ha citato una musa inaspettata, Lady Gaga:
I wrote Real Love Baby with Lady Gaga in mind and ended up writing one of my most vulnerable songs. Writing for other people is the best way to trick yourself into writing for yourself in some unexpected way that isn’t attached to your vanity.
