A inizio settembre Chet Faker annunciava, tramite la sua pagina Facebook, di non voler più produrre musica sotto lo pseudonimo che lo ha accompagnato sin dal 2011. Chet ha voluto riappropriarsi del nome di battesimo, virando verso un self-titled project.
Dopo la pubblicazione dei singoli Fear Less e Stop Me (Stop You), il redivivo Nick Murphy ha voluto render pubbliche, sempre tramite il social, le motivazioni che lo hanno spinto a cambiar rotta.
Dalla pagina Facebook dell’artista si legge:
A lot of you are probably wondering why the fuck I changed my name.
Me too, sometimes.
A lot of things changed in my life, including me.
I learnt and relearnt a lot about myself.
It felt like I needed to make that a thing for everyone.…
So I’m not fighting preconceptions and everyone can start the evolution with me.
The only important thing is that it feels new and inspired to me, and I’d like to think that’s all that matters to you as well.
