Il secondo album degli Alt-J, This Is All Yours, sembra lontanissimo rispetto a quanto non lo sia realmente. Era solo il settembre del 2014.
Tra progetti paralleli, tra cui il disco solista di Thom Green, High Anxiety, abile batterista del trio, e diverse foto apparse sull’account Instagram della band, gli Alt-J hanno fatto drizzare le antenne a molti degli addetti ai lavori.
Sappiamo che la band è da tempo al lavoro sul nuovo album, ma cosa bolle esattamente in pentola?
Gus Unger-Hamilton, l’istrionico tastierista, disse nel lontano agosto del 2015 di essere emozionato all’idea di registrare di nuovo, ma spiegò che la band si sarebbe presa una pausa prima di pensare ad un album:
We just want to have no pressure on us to produce something and do it as and when it feels right really.
Secondo quanto raccontato ad NME da Thom Green ad inizio anno invece, si prospetta una nuova direzione anche se predire quando si concretizzerà è difficile:
There’s been a lot of ideas, we’re very excited about it, I think it’s going to be pretty interesting. I feel like it’ll be different, but I don’t know. It’s funny – we write together so well and it comes pretty naturally and pretty quick, but I can’t predict it. We write what we feel. No idea when the band’s third album is out, the band hasn’t even started recording it yet.
Sicuramente l’album non suonerà come il suo debutto:
A lot of the stuff that I do doesn’t work with the band, I didn’t want to push it on them. I wanted a place to put everything else that I was making instead of just getting rid of it.
Certamente le partecipazioni a diversi festival quest’anno stanno mettendo sulle spine i fan degli Alt-J che non sanno più cosa aspettarsi.
La band inglese tornerà in Italia al Ferrara Sotto le Stelle 2017!
